Since 2004 Guérande belongs to the national network of 137 “Villes et Pays d’art et d’histoire.”
This quality-label is awarded by the French Ministry of Culture and communication to cities and towns with a rich heritage.
It allows them to pursue an active policy to stimulate and develop their heritage and architecture, thanks to financial support from the ministry.
The local authorities adopts measures to raise the inhabitants and visitors awareness of Guérande’s History and heritage.
